RCB Vs Warriors - Time To Pay Homage - CLT20 2011 First Match

First I would like to pay homage to India's most graceful, charismatic and witty cricketer ever! MAK Pataudi Sir I will miss your wit and humour the most.:(

CLT20 got off to a rapping start! I am not a big fan of rap but CLT20 being a global tournament it was only apt to start with some rap n zap.

As we move onwards to the cricket,RCB Vs Warriors didn't look like an mouth watering encounter to me at the start. For I believed the Bangalore pitch suited for the home side. They had posted huge scores at chinnaswamy stadium during IPL.

So I thought RCB would win even though I didn't expect gayle to be firing given the fact he hasn't played any form of  competitive cricket since IPL.

Warriors won the toss and asked RCB to bat. If it hadn't been said enough already its bound be dew around during day and night matches in Bangalore especially during the winter months.

The RCB put into bat started aggressively enough Gayle the umpteenth person to prove me wrong this week :) looked in great touch to my surprise. One of his trademark hoick landed in the stands he was all set to repeat his IPL 2011 opening innings until warriors captain flew like a butterfly to pull of an sensational catch at long on.It must have stung like bee for Gayle who looked good until then.

The RCB innings was like one of those community events where everyone chips in with a gig or two.Couple of 30's from Kohli and Devillers, 20's from Gayle, Tiwary, and Kaif.Community events are great only when they get some one who can guide them through. It didn't happen in RCB innings, considering the position they were they should have added at least 10 more runs to the score.

The tail enders had to face the final overs of the RCB innings, that's not right in a 20 over game and they just about managed to get 8 runs from it. Unlike RCB, the warriors seemed to have a plan, they wanted one player to play through the innings and there was only one man who is going to do it for them you can see it from a mile way really!.

Ashwell Prince is not your typical swash buckling rock n lola kinda of cricketer but yesterday he was all that and more. Come on he was going bam! bam! bam! against Gayle. For all those who think Gayle is part timer think again he almost pulled of matches with ball in his hand. He is more than decent T20 bowler. No slog, no muscle, & no fancy dancing at the crease yet A.Prince hit two straight sixes over long off first and then , when Vettori brought long on in and dropped mid off back he went over long on now!

T20 cricket at its best from the batsmen but RCB fielding left lot to be desired, they were trying their best but nothing seemed to counter their butter fingers.Even Kohli of all people dropped a catch from Ashwell Prince.

When the spinner were brought into the attack the match was evenly poised but they pulled things RCB's way with some tight bowling. The only disadvantage was that two left armers where bowling to a left hander. If i was the captain I would have given Kohli a go! Just to break the rhythm.

When the 5th wicket fell Warriors captian walked in, Harsha and Ian Chappel were going on about how Botha missed a trick by not promoting himself higher up the order. I also think it could have been a good idea.Similar things have been said about MSD as well.Sometimes you need to plan for the worst case scenario.

Botha was in no mood to play himself in,got off the mark with a boundary. He raised off to 20 in just 9 balls when its was time for the final 3 overs. Ball was given to Gayle, warriors still needing 35 runs from 18 balls. The first 3 balls of the over produced just 5 runs then botha went ballistic taking 13 runs of the next three. Suddenly the match turned upside down, one over is all it takes to change fortunes in T20.
Then it was upto the young Arvind to produce an exceptional final over to win it for RCB.With 7 runs needed from the 6 balls Arvind produced 3 dot balls in a row with the third one being the wicket of Botha. Is it the "C" word time again ? Another SA team another match that they should  have won easy going down to the wire.

Arvind bowled another great delivery letting Boje to score just one.Parnell the new batsmen was now clear he needed a boundary as the equation has gain shifted to RCB with 6 needed of 2 balls. He spanked the next ball straight past the bowler for a four! Wow! The crowd went numb, the RCB dug out looked tensed, warriors dug out looked even more so. The final ball drilled to mid off, Nicky Boje would have qualified for the Olympics had it been a track & field. He completed the couple needed before the fielder had any chance.
This CLT20 has already produced some thrilling games!! I love the fact that all the games have full entertainment value

Meanwhile In England, the English have completed a 10 wicket win over west indies (One sided match if ever was!)

Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Auckland Aces - Boring Pitch But A Good Match ?

All along "The Dust Bowl" and "I Dont Know How To Play Spin" brigade has been driving home the message that exciting cricket only happens on fast and bouncy green tops.Well yesterday's T20 match was as much an even contest as you will ever see.

Team Photo Auckland Aces
Its no surprise that it was an low scoring match that produced a nail biting finish. The biggest surprise for me was that the crowd seemed to be missing and that meant the entire match was played with little or no atmosphere. No advantage for the IPL team here.

KKR started off really well both Bisla and Kallis were looking comfortable. They were steadily building a good partnership and the Kallis doing the catch up to Bisla who played some outstanding back foot shots. They were 80 odd from just 9 overs. That's when the abrasiveness of the pitch and some reckless slogs started to play its part in a restricting Kolkata to just 40 runs from the next 11 overs

Both spinners and fast bowlers had assistance from the pitch.Ball started to reverse well as early as the 15 over, with former New Zealand bowler Andre Adams bowling some in-swinging toe crushers.

Auckland aces must have fancied their changes when they went into the dug out. They did lose an early wicket not because of an exceptional play from the opposition but because of their awful running between the wickets.Lou Vincent was next.He had a big grin on his face when he took strike.why? i dont know and dont care but, more of that please.people sometimes forget to enjoy the game.

Though he looked like a fish out of water against slower bowlers even with a new ball Lou Vincent did use all the loose deliveries that came his way.Infact he laid into Unadkat. Yeah the same guy who was picked for India on the SA tour :).

Once bitten twice shy, well not in this chase Lou Vincent ran himself out when hit a ball straight to Tiwary and tried to run. There was no run it.May be he knew what was coming in the next over so he was desperate to get the strike back.

Lou Vincent would have had plenty of company in the dug out.Acukland Aces's No4 and No5 went from the next 3 balls. So in the span of 4 balls Auckland Aces Lost 3 wickets :)

Its now upto the lower order and bowlers to save the match, right now I am so used to this after the Eng Vs Ind series :) then began the slow grind (or consolidation phase ) of a T20 innings, believe me even a T20 match has one.

So it was down to 21 needed for 12 balls. Kallis the captian decides its upto to him to restrict AA's.For the plan seemed to work when he clattered the stumps of Munro.Vin Diesel look alike Adams walks in and sends Kallis's length ball ten rows back. Now that's a real action hero. Some inside edges and scrambled singles latter it was 11 runs from the final over.

Lee takes over from Kallis he bowled accurately with pace hitting yorker lenght at will.I believe he must have bowled atleast three yorkers to kyle mills alone including the final ball where AA's needed 4 to win.Kyle couldn't do much other just squeeze a single to fine leg.Kolkata Knight Riders won by 2 runs

KKR 121/6 20 Overs
AA 119/6 20 overs

Good match for the neutrals but if i was KKR fan I would not be happy with how things have paned out. They have huffed and puffed their way to a win and definitely not champions league winning

Ruhuna v Trindiad & Tobago, CLT20 qualifier, Hyderabad

There was another match on the day between Ruhunu and Trinidad & Tobago In which the oldest person in CLT20 certain S.Jayasuriya (42) was playing. But i missed the game as there was no coverage. Seems to be one sided match (T20 standard) T&T winning the game easily.Looks like its the other Ganga who has been the playing the calypso.

S Ganga scoring 39 runs from just 15 balls. Now thats some talent.I am telling you WI  cricket is slowly coming back to life.Bishoo and Pollard were a big hit in CLT20 last time.I hope we will see some more from WI's teams.

Match Stats

Ruhunu 138/10 in 20
Trinidad & Tobago 144/5 in 20

Full scorecard of the match here

BTW the broadcasting from ESPN was crap to say the least, the camera angles were awkward and the transmission even went off in at crucial part of the match

Best English Cricket Television Show In India !

1.NDTV (Tea Toast & Sports,Sports 24x7 and also special shows on match days). Why I rate NDTV as the number simple they talk sense! Their anchors headed by the Sonali Chander, interesting cricket experts

Ajay Jadeja (AJ) - He is the go to guy for NDTV, he is on the show even if it meant video conferencing from his hotel during his supposed breakaway holiday.AJ is the best cricket expert on tele without a doubt,he basis his views purely on cricketing matters and nothing else which is a very rare trait especially when cricket in our country is so much more than a game,it gets emotional.

Dean Jones (Prof.Deano) - Witty analogues, in your face criticisms and his acting (though he repeats some scenarios). An Aussie point of view on scheme of things.

Sunil Gavaskar (not a regular on the show), - The mans a legend, we believe in whatever he has to say, 9/10 he predicts it right, if you are betting person! what this show, will be making a lot of money. (you can also read my blog ) :)

Navjot Singh Sidhu - Sidhuisms have taken a break for a year or so! but he was the humorous side of this show before he got into politics and went missing from the scene.

And there are more people adding flavour to the show from time to time, but a show is not all about the celebrities but the hosts play a part as well.

NDTV Anchors & Sports Desk

1.Sonali Chander - Only person who can control Mr.Sidhu when he is on song!
2.Jaydeep Bhandarkar - love his sports stories, he doesnt appear that often on cricket shows but hope he does and also does a show on Arsenal ( GUNNERS )
3.Rica Roy - May be she is the next best interviewer in the NDTV sports desk after Sonali.
4.Anjali Doshi - She is a breath of fresh air in sports anchoring, Smile Smile And Smile Some More!

Dail C For Cricket - NEO Cricket

This is a live show hosted by Manish Vallicha every weekday on NEO Cricket. The show usually has a Cricket expert and every Friday night special shows a fan would get a chance to appear on the show and take the questions himself. The Fans get to express their views and debate it with the expert.

Its raw, straight forward and superbly simple. All the attributes to make this show run forever.Manish Vallicha is easily the best man for the job I cant see anyone else at NEO Cricket coming close to his intelligence or presence.Sometimes he talks better than the cricket experts on the show.

Even the cricket experts are not high profile cricketing stars better still they are domestic and retired players. Which makes its more interesting, Sometimes when a debate gets out of hand it is laughed out not reigned in!

One advise we all know Irfan Pathan is a good cricket but will you guys please stop talking about him lol every show has some fan talking about him! Even Sachin wouldn't get such PR, Must be Irfan is spending all the IPL on PR.

Star Cricket

No nonsense show on Star Cricket, Nikhil Chopra (former India Cricketer), Gautam Bhimani, and Jatin Sapru. Though its more of a entertainment show than a cricket show they sometimes talk Cricket.

It's completely unique and different to other shows on TV, ROLE Play is a special segment on the show where Nikhil take the role of different cricketers and tries to answer to questions.Though they sometimes fail miserably with the English accent part of it :), they do a good job especially for sub continental players.

Gautam Bhimani your are anchors envy, Jim Carey would certainly be happy to have your job.If it involves Bikini, Beaches And Cricket....You are the man for a report..

CNN IBN

I unfortunately have watched CNN IBN's Cricket show, mainly because I don't have access to TV when I travel so use their live streaming which is good! They usually have very good cricket experts but their host are absolute amateurs.

Even their Sports Desk editor Gaurav does know how to handle a interview asking irrelevant questions that has no bearing on the current news, its like they have their own business interests to promote rather than cricket bringing the owner of cricketnext.com into every debate..

Everytime you turn to their show for some cricket news you get stuffed with scams, controversies and scandals.Yes we all know that there are scandals and scams in Cricket. We also know BCCI president is occupying two jobs but please can we discuss cricket the game in atleast 5% of the show.If we need anything of that sort we would have been watching Big Boss or Soap Operas we don't need that!Keep it to your entertainment shows

Ganguly In Your Side - A No Brainer

I will tell you why ! See I know the management behind all the 10 Ipl Teams are highly qualified in fact some of them might be over qualified with countless alphabets after their name signifying the schools, colleges, honors and degree they have got but yesterday they all looked liked amateurs who have no clue about sports!

All well is when you are running a manufacturing unit or beer vending machine, when you make decisions based on numbers and numbers alone..Numbers don't tell the whole story in most scenario's.

KKR Has Made A Sin

What is the point in Winning ? Why Run A Club ? Are these clubs run to satisfy individual Egos among the Elite Owners Club! OR is it done for Countless Fans who stand in queue, buy tickets with almost their entire weekly pay (in some cases) to watch their super heroes...Dada Is A Super Hero in W.B. A winning KKR is in everyone's interest , every single fan understands that but a team needs to win only for it's fans.

A Big Marketing Fail

A winning KKR is a easier brand to sell, but Ganguly the name is a brand in itself, he brings in the crowd and not SRK as the actor would like to think. The KKR could have made the money 1.84 cr which just ticketing, merchandising and advertising using Ganguly!

Cricketing Logic Also Fails

This is last IPL's batting chart, its a Joke that rational thinking people can overlook such stats.I am totally at sea as to the rest of Sourav Ganguly fans

All I can say is like most places in our beloved country "Wrong People End Up In Right Places"

Value Picks In IPL 2011 Auction

These aren't the big stars who are int he bucket list but I am telling you these are players to watch out for! Actually I think one of the IPL franchises should give me a job as talent shout lol.Anyway my hands are already full or what! Instead of spending millions on one star, the strategy should be to invest on players who have potential.Any Idiot can make money investing on blue chip stocks! but your returns are low comparing to your investment.Blue Chip's aren't risk free either! An injury or Bad Schedule can ruin the party as Chennai found out with Flintoff, Instead Picking these fellows can be fruitful and make the owner laugh all the way to bank while things get done minus the bucket list.

  1. C.Pujara
  2. S.Badrinath
  3. M.Guptil
  4. D.Bravo
  5. M.Karthik
  6. E.Morgan
  7. T.Perera
  8. S.Randiv
  9. N.Kulasekera
  10. D.Sammy
  11. M.Marsh

Need to add more players to this list, help me out as I couldn't find the entire auction list for IPL (new 350 players list)

Mumbai Indians - Back To The Future, Chennai Will Make It Two

If you are Mumbai fan you would be expecting atleast a semifinal appearance from your team.I say that the least you would expect from a team that dominated the IPL.It has everything strong bowling, greatest player ever as its captain and decent batting wait a minute ? does it have everything's ? Nope !!

I always miss the almost forgotten part "Fielding".The way Mumbai Indians fielded yesterday was nothing but championship material, you can say the catch to Sachin and the top edge to the final leg were difficult ones and its hard to criticize players for that, but the alarming thing is the ground fielding.Throws from the deep were weak and the fielding within the ring was even weaker.Malinga rolling over the ball on the fence, harbhajan letting one through his hands in the ring, and the list never ends with fielders trying to save the singles ...

The score that Mumbai Indians put up was very competitive, bowling looked good in patches but the real let down was their fielding.I was hoping that a team led by Master blaster can win a tournament, but now the hopes of Mumbai making it to the finals are very slim. Its like Mumbai went back to the team they were in the first two seasons of IPL.

Well Chennai certainly are contenders for the crown with they way they played against Otago stats, but now they real test begins where Chennai's consistency will be tested. They are a good team but they are against a team which is also from the subcontinent and play similar brand of cricket.

Wayamba is not a mere pushover with class and consistent performers in its ranks, non better than MJ himself, Jayawardene's role would be to stay there till the end, as their strategy of attacking play in the first 6 back fired in the last match.

All said and done, I still think Chennai has enough muscle to win this one, Chennai wins a close game is my call....

CSK Are Kings, Can RCB beat Guyana?

As I predicted CSK won easily, they are too consistent a side to lose against the stage,Once again its was the technically sound player who never gets its dues S.Badrinath who helped CSK post 151 on a seaming durban wicket.S.Badrinath is no superstar, he doesn't have the flair of virendar sehwag or does he have the big shots that make people go crazy, but he gets things done.

When the going gets tough the tough get going, Chennai were 48/3 after 10 overs, the ball was moving all over the place and you can bet your dollars on the fact that a old fashioned slog would have allowed the ball to kiss you goodbye.Srikanth and Morkel chipped in well, though I was disappointed that MS couldn't Bat higher up the order due to a niggling injury.

So CSK the IPL champions won their match easily by 57 runs can RCB rinse and repeat what CSK did? RCB to me has more stars in its team than Hollywood, It doesn't get better than this, Peterson ,Kallis, Morgan, Kumble, Steyn, Uttappa and it goes on..

Yes,they have all the arsenal they would ever need, but the question is can they use it against Guyana. It was a surprise to me to see Guyana qualify from west Indies instead of T&T,but Guyana won fair and square and earned the right to be in CLT20.

I always admired R.Sarwan for his temperament and the fact that T&T performed outstandingly last year must be a confidence booster for his side.Facing RCB in its first match, away from home is quiet difficult, so I still think RCB will win this one but wont be as easy as CSK Vs Stags.

Thanks for all the emails and Hope you guys win some more using my predictions :)!!

Mumbai Indians Lost Will Chennai Super Kings Follow ?

Like many a pundits have predicated lions to be the underdog's in the season opener of champions league 2010.We can all understand why everyone thought so,on paper Mumbai Indians had the better squad. But the important thing that help the lions on that day was on paper they had team.

They showed why you are better as a team than a group of brilliant players, Mumbai Indians have a great squad but they were not playing together as team for nearly three months.Dropped catches on the outfield, missed runout chances and poor running between the wickets in yesterday's match were all a result of this very reason. The big question for a Mumbai Indian fan would be how fast can they gel together and play as the team.

Lions on the other hand showed what discipline and teamwork can do, it doesn't always take superstar performances to win a t20 game, just a cohesive bunch of players doing the basics right and avoiding the mist
akes.

So Mumbai Indians found it hard so will Chennai Super Kings be the next big IPL team to be facing defeat today ?.Chennai Super Kings are the current IPL 3 champions and a much better well balanced consistent side than Mumbai Indians.Over the last years they are the only IPL team to have played in 2 finals and 1 semifinal.

They are set to play against the Stags from New Zealand which makes the conditions neutral as they have no home advantage, all things said CSk will be rusty and they haven't played together since IPL3. So it would be a hard to win, but I think CSK are good enough team lead by the best captain in CLT2O to win this match.

Comparing the Champions League Of Cricket And Football ?

I don't whether some journalists are totally ignorant of facts or pretend to be one.I came across another article just before the launch of a big tournament on a cricket website.Just have read everyone

http://www.cricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/476331.html

I dont know how this article even passed cricinfo editors, it should more likely to be a press release of fifa's champions league rather than cricinfo's take on the cricket's champions league .

Lets get things right before you compare these two leagues?

When you compare these two league or sports you are really hiding a lot under the carpet and infact the above article I posted shows as if all the troubles in sporting world arises from cricket.

Ah, cricket: smaller than football, but to many - notwithstanding match-fixing, rain, the unbearable dullness of most limited-overs matches, greedy administrators, egotistic administrators, power-hungry administrators, actually, administrators, period, and, of course, opinionated reporters - far closer to being perfectly formed
- Quote from CricInfo.com Article

Its just not cricket which has all the evil that money brings, footballer have been there done that if anything just have a look at the recent controversies with wayne rooney-juci jenni what not...

FIFA's governing council's refusal to accept goal line technology despite worldwide protest that has been going on for sometime, is just another saga showing its remarkable ability of football's top body to do what it wants, some may call it arrogance, some ego and others Power. If some else does it before us we better not go that way

While comparing the price money of that of champions leagues is another dubious error in judgment, while football is played in all of the developed countries in Europe its bound to have more price money and its not a shorter tournament like the cricket league so the advertising revenues and sponsorship deals are also higher.

The claims of champions league of football to be truly global even is also questionable, it doesnt involve teams outside of europe while cricket has representative teams across the board.

Crickets league is still in its infancy, you cannot build Rome in a day, its takes time.Champions league of football has been here for since 1955 , ie over 55 years while crickets league just started in 2009 and its just its second edition.

I will add more points to this article, g2g now

The Joke's On You

Yes , the joke's on not just me! Everyone who loves this beautiful game.I still cannot really come to terms with what is happening over the past couple of week's, "In case you haven't been keeping track of current events, we just got our asses kicked."I am not worried about tainted cricketers, embarrassed countries or disappointed fans,

I am worried about the game.Dead pitches, boring test matches or security situation in certain countries will that destroy the game ? Are these the most serious threats the game faces? No sir! It is Match fixing and it just doesnt stop destroying it rips apart the soul of the game

Why watch a game when someone sitting 12000 miles away calls the shots ? He might as well be having a jolly good time seeing all the experts on TV and me included trying to predict the outcomes with some cricketing logic.

The Joke's On Us!

The joke's on everyone involved in the game, unless someone who has real love for the game steps in and goes to the bottom of it increasingly bottomless pit there is no hope.Money is not a double edged sword, its not the devil behind all evil.Money coming into the game is good, used well can cures this immoral disease.
Setting up education drives, revamping ICC anti corruption and most importantly having the will get things done are the need of the hour.

Punishing the guilty is not what a real cricket fan wants, I don't care if the tainted players play or not..I want the game clean and confidence what we see on TV is pure sports and nothing else...
"Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional."

Should I continue my predictions and contenders review for this years CLT20 ? I don't know may be I will, but sure enough leave your thoughts in the comment section.

Chennai Super Kings ( CSK) are IPL 2010 Champions

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are IPL 2010 champions after a superb victory over Mumbai Indians by 22 runs.If there ever was a them that can beat Mumbai and claim they deserved it more then it would be Chennai.

They were the finalists in the inaugural edition of IPL, outplayed in the semi's in second edition, but here they are in the final for the second time in three years. They hoped the cricketing gods would help them in getting them the prize that was eluding their grasp. It looked like the gods were with them when dhoni won the toss, DY patil is a great venue, one of the best in the country but even it cannot sustain four matches in 5 days. The pitches need time to be groomed but there was non here.Yet the ground staff produce a relatively good wicket.Kudos to them.

Matthew Hayden looked like a fish out of water, Harbhajan singh was unlucky as very good LBW appeal was turned down, but eventually Hayden fell for a 31 ball 17, but not before M Vijay had scoped up a Fernando delivery towards Tiwary.

Badri came tried to infuse some momentum into the innings but fell by the way side losing his wicket,A miscued shot by Raina dropped between Abhishek Nayar and Dilhara Fernando at third man off Zaheer. Then, Zaheer failed to even line up the ball off another skier. It was when Dhoni and Rania drove into the Mumbai Indians.

It is what Champion teams and players are made of, when you give them the slightest opportunity they would make you pay for it, they did it in style, lofted drive over extra cover, the bludgeon straight past the bowler, Slog over deep midwicket it had everything a T20 innings should have and more with some super death bowling from harbhajan and malinga.

168 was a great score on this surface and the Mumbai Indian batsmen were under pressure from ball 1, add to the fact that the opening pair of Bollinger and Ashwin have been remarkable for CSK in the opening six overs. Sachin crossed the pain barrier as he tried to play the anchor, while everyone around him goes for leather.Despite the five stitches on his right hand, top scoring with a gutsy 48, but sachin had a lucky break when he clearly gloved the ball to dhoni, but it was turned down by Mr.Rudi .It was 58 for two in 10 overs when Nayar got run out

MI batsmen came one after the other to increase the momentum everybody except Kieron Pollard, even harbhajan singh had a slot above Kieron pollard, which clearly points out the defensive nature of their run chase, then eventually pollard come to the crease when 3 overs were left but by then MI needed 55 runs off 18 balls.Kieron Pollard blazed off 27 in 10 balls, narrowed the gap but by then it was too late.

Dhoni's men were brave, they were pushing for results instead of waiting for mistakes from the opposition, they looked like the more relaxed, hungrier and deserving team on night. Cheers to CSK and Whistle Podu.....MACHI

South Africa Will host CLT20 2010 from 10-26 September

Its official now, South Africa will be hosting the event. It doesn't get any better than this, if you are in SA you are in for a 6 months of high octane ,top of the line sporting events. Just when you think you had the best summer hosting the FIFA world cup 2010, comes the CLT20.

South Africa without doubt would be making this edition of CLT20 a outstanding success, after all they pulled off IPL 2009 in 3 weeks .

The only worry i have is about the pitches as it would be early spring in SA don't remember any T20 beings played in September in SA.I think fans don't mind a bowler getting his share ones in a while.

Is there really a land like this ? It's Possible..:)

Trinidad and Tobago haven't lost a single game in the tournament and in other words New South Wales have their only defeat at the hands of Trinidad and Tobago.New South Wales was dominating that game for 3/4th of the match until a match winning knock from Kieron Pollard snatched victory out of nowhere.Someone has to produce a championship winning performance to win it for their team.

This is a game that needs a individual brilliance to make one team come on top of the other.

My Pick:T&T Not Just because I would love to see an west indian team win the championship but because they are playing the best cricket in the tournament.

Champions League Semi Finals

21 OCT Bushrangers v NSW Blues Delhi 20:00
22 OCT T&T v Cape Cobras Hyderabad 20:00

Champions League Will Be Pinnacle Of T20

Its refreshing to see that Champions League cricket is not like champions league of football. Where as the same five or six teams dominate the finals. In the last four years atleast two EPL teams have qualified for the last four making its dominance felt but the power of the english clubs have made FIFA look at the league in a different way. Dominance of any kind for a long period of time may lead to loss of interest for the fans.If what you expect and what conspires are the same?, where is the thrill of sport in it?. Sport is not a bollywood flick where the heroes win all the time

Okay I predicted wrong and my ricky whoever you are predicted right. You had said T&T to the semifinals.I did think they had a good side but never predicted entering the last four. What a tournament this has been. As I had predicted IPL teams did do well. But I expected atleast delhi to qualify for the Knock out stage but it wasnt to be.In the end the daredevils are blaming the pitch. No cricket match is won or lost just because of one mistake or an advantage, both the teams used the same pitch and the better team that played better cricket won. That should be the fair assessment of the league so far.

Trinidad & Tobago

Everyone's happy that a side from Caribbean is winning and winning big. This side has shown us all and to the cricket administrators back home what we are missing without the West Indian flavour in Cricket. The sheer passion with which the entire team ran towards Pollard when he smashed a six of Henriques to finish the game off.The attitude, the passion and the efforts that the guys have shown on the field of play have got them through to the semi-finals.They played with such flair even the locals were cheering for them though they beat the home team deccan chargers. This is the best thing that has happened for cricket in a long time. For most of the people who love the game and not the TRP's CLT20 is a success just for giving a stage for a teams like T&T.

Cape Cobras

Bang Bang Bang..J.P.Duminy sets the chinnaswamy stadium alive in what I think is the best innings of the tournament considering the situation the cobras where in,They haven't been the bookies or my favourite for the semi's but they are here.South African teams have been known for their fielding but these guys where on a different path on the first game dropping many sitters. They need to improve their fielding a bit and play fearless cricket as they have done so far now that the pressures on them in Semi's

New South Wales

They were the bookies favourite and mine too. They were strong paper with 8 Intl Players and where on the field too. They looked the champions side until a carribean hurricane hit them.In a bliztreig they looked helpless, without ideas and far from the champions. Kieron Pollard played the "The Ace" game, a match winner needs to produce an Ace game NSW are beatable.Even RF admits that pressure affects his game. Building pressure and clinching the right moments is all the opposition should think about.Reputations should be forgotten.

Victorians March To Victory Against RCB

Victorian Bushrangers showed why Australia has remained the single most dominant side in world cricket for the past decade. They play good consistent cricket regardless of the conditions or the performance of one individual.Royal Challengers knew the conditions like the back of their hand, had the overwhelming crowd support and had a man with 600 test wicket as the captain.

The match started with some brilliance from a future star in the making Manish Pandey made to open in the place of Jacques Kallis, he played with style and grace seldom seen in T20.Royal Challengers innings was up and running like a gazelle. As the pace was taken of the ball things started happening for Victorian Bushrangers. The Royal Challengers scored 72 runs in the first ten overs but their batting in the last ten overs was so bad that they scored 55 runs, for the loss of just four wickets.

Royal Challengers didnt have an finisher to guide the innings.Openers Quiney and Brad Hodge, had to just put their head down and concentrate. They were far too experienced to do anything other than that. They batted sensibly while the Royal Challengers bowlers started to try different things. As they began to experiment wayward deliveries and extras began to hurt their cause more.Brad Hodge and Rob Quiney were out in very quick secession but by then most of the damage had done. They reached the target with 4 overs to spare.

Victorian Bushrangers are almost assured of an place in the semifinal while royal challengers would be hoping for a big win when they face Delhi in Bangalore on Saturday.
