Clash Of the Titans - The Big Final

Trinidad & Tobago Vs New South Wales Blues

23 OCT Starts 20;00 Hrs IST

Everyone excited and ready to watch the finals. And what a final its going to be. Trinidad and Tobago and New south wales are the best two teams in the tournament so far and they are both a deserving finalists.

Trinidad and Tobago haven't lost a single game in the tournament and in other words New South Wales have their only defeat at the hands of Trinidad and Tobago.New South Wales was dominating that game for 3/4th of the match until a match winning knock from Kieron Pollard snatched victory out of nowhere.Someone has to produce a championship winning performance to win it for their team.

This is a game that needs a individual brilliance to make one team come on top of the other.

My Pick:T&T Not Just because I would love to see an west indian team win the championship but because they are playing the best cricket in the tournament.

Star:D Bravo

Champions League Semi Finals

21 OCT Bushrangers v NSW Blues Delhi 20:00
22 OCT T&T v Cape Cobras Hyderabad 20:00

Champions League Will Be Pinnacle Of T20

Its refreshing to see that Champions League cricket is not like champions league of football. Where as the same five or six teams dominate the finals. In the last four years atleast two EPL teams have qualified for the last four making its dominance felt but the power of the english clubs have made FIFA look at the league in a different way. Dominance of any kind for a long period of time may lead to loss of interest for the fans.If what you expect and what conspires are the same?, where is the thrill of sport in it?. Sport is not a bollywood flick where the heroes win all the time

Okay I predicted wrong and my ricky whoever you are predicted right. You had said T&T to the semifinals.I did think they had a good side but never predicted entering the last four. What a tournament this has been. As I had predicted IPL teams did do well. But I expected atleast delhi to qualify for the Knock out stage but it wasnt to be.In the end the daredevils are blaming the pitch. No cricket match is won or lost just because of one mistake or an advantage, both the teams used the same pitch and the better team that played better cricket won. That should be the fair assessment of the league so far.

Trinidad & Tobago

Everyone's happy that a side from Caribbean is winning and winning big. This side has shown us all and to the cricket administrators back home what we are missing without the West Indian flavour in Cricket. The sheer passion with which the entire team ran towards Pollard when he smashed a six of Henriques to finish the game off.The attitude, the passion and the efforts that the guys have shown on the field of play have got them through to the semi-finals.They played with such flair even the locals were cheering for them though they beat the home team deccan chargers. This is the best thing that has happened for cricket in a long time. For most of the people who love the game and not the TRP's CLT20 is a success just for giving a stage for a teams like T&T.

Cape Cobras

Bang Bang Bang..J.P.Duminy sets the chinnaswamy stadium alive in what I think is the best innings of the tournament considering the situation the cobras where in,They haven't been the bookies or my favourite for the semi's but they are here.South African teams have been known for their fielding but these guys where on a different path on the first game dropping many sitters. They need to improve their fielding a bit and play fearless cricket as they have done so far now that the pressures on them in Semi's

New South Wales

They were the bookies favourite and mine too. They were strong paper with 8 Intl Players and where on the field too. They looked the champions side until a carribean hurricane hit them.In a bliztreig they looked helpless, without ideas and far from the champions. Kieron Pollard played the "The Ace" game, a match winner needs to produce an Ace game NSW are beatable.Even RF admits that pressure affects his game. Building pressure and clinching the right moments is all the opposition should think about.Reputations should be forgotten.

Victorians March To Victory Against RCB

Victorian Bushrangers showed why Australia has remained the single most dominant side in world cricket for the past decade. They play good consistent cricket regardless of the conditions or the performance of one individual.Royal Challengers knew the conditions like the back of their hand, had the overwhelming crowd support and had a man with 600 test wicket as the captain.

The match started with some brilliance from a future star in the making Manish Pandey made to open in the place of Jacques Kallis, he played with style and grace seldom seen in T20.Royal Challengers innings was up and running like a gazelle. As the pace was taken of the ball things started happening for Victorian Bushrangers. The Royal Challengers scored 72 runs in the first ten overs but their batting in the last ten overs was so bad that they scored 55 runs, for the loss of just four wickets.

Royal Challengers didnt have an finisher to guide the innings.Openers Quiney and Brad Hodge, had to just put their head down and concentrate. They were far too experienced to do anything other than that. They batted sensibly while the Royal Challengers bowlers started to try different things. As they began to experiment wayward deliveries and extras began to hurt their cause more.Brad Hodge and Rob Quiney were out in very quick secession but by then most of the damage had done. They reached the target with 4 overs to spare.

Victorian Bushrangers are almost assured of an place in the semifinal while royal challengers would be hoping for a big win when they face Delhi in Bangalore on Saturday.

League Stage Match Day 1

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Victorian Bushrangers
Bangalore | 20:00 IST

The first match of the second round of the Champions League features Royal Challengers Bangalore, who finished second in Group C, and Victoria, the runners-up of Group D.

Somerset and T&T Qualify To The Next stage

Somerset reached the second phase of the Champions League as the Deccan Chargers went down by three runs to Trinidad and Tobago.Deccan have never won a single match in their home ground and they were desperate for a win but they were against an inspired T&T side.Trinidad & Tobago was put in to bat by Gilchrist but they didnt get the start they were hoping for in a big game, Fidel Edwards was erratic despite trapping opener Lendl Simmons plumb in front in his second over. R.P.Singh had some control over the proceedings but he was not picking up any wickets as the attacking bowlers. Deccan were playing only three front line bowlers as they packed their side with batsmen. So Fidel and R.P.Singh becasme all the more crucial.

Off-spinner Suman got Darren Bravo in his very first over with a caught and bowled. Two balls later in the same over, Trinidad captain Darren Ganga was stranded trying to take a single as Symonds from mid-off threw down the stumps at the non-striker’s end.But some big hitting from pollard and part-timers from deccan meant T&T were let off the hook.Bowlers win you any game, in any format of the game. Deccan skipper Adam Gilchrist then struck a blistering 51 off 36 balls, while Venugopal Rao made 30 lower down the order,With eight runs needed off the last over from Dwayne Bravo, Tirumalasetty Suman took a single to give the strike to R.P. Singh who picked up a brace, then faced a dot ball before being bowled.

Then Fidel Edwards was run out by Bravo on his follow-through. This left Suman with the task of scoring five runs off the last ball but managed only to hit it to long-off for a single.

Deccan Chargers vs. Trinidad & Tobago [ Group A] Hyderabad | 20:00 IST

This the final match of the group stages. It will decide the final eight teams for the next stage of the tournament. If Deccan Chargers lose the game they would be eliminated from the Tournament. If Trinidad and Tobaco win this match they would top the group and carry two extra points into the next stage which might come handy.T&T would need to produce a performance at par with their earlier clash with Somerset. This T&T side has character and would give Deccan Chargers a run for their money.Darren Bravo missed out on the first match expect some Lara lookalike strokes from him.Home support and a team that is desperate to win deccan chargers would be the fancier side to win this match.Andrew Symonds and Others need to get into the grove fast.

Wayamba Elevens Vs Victorian Bushrangers

It is Delhi again and couple of low scoring games again. Apart from Virender Sehwag and Dinesh Kartick no other player has looked like dominating the bowling throughout the championship on feroz shah kotla.Wayamba needed not just a win but a win with a bigger margin to edge Victorian bushrangers out in order to qualify.A Brilliant beginning by Jeevantha Kulatunga and Michael Vandort provided the foundation to Wayamba for posting an above par score. Opener Mahela Udawatte lost his wicket in a bid to increase the runrate but Kulatunga and Vandort steered the innings with a partnership of 81 runs. They batted with intent and the Wayamba camp looked firmly in control until the dismissal of Vandort. The rest couldn't cope with the wicket.Victorian Bushrangers never looked like the were into the chase, seemed contempt with achieving the 85 Runs needed for qualification into the next stage.

Eagles v Sussex

Low Scoring matches can be the most thrilling,if you had watched yesterdays match between sussex and eagles you wouldn't bet against it either.Sussex sharks looked to char less about the wicket and started playing their shots from the start.Instead of looking to time the ball sussex batsmen tried to muscle them to boundary, which makes it even harder to manuvre the ball on the low and slow pitches.Sussex with Ed Joyce and Joe Gatting chipping in with some useful scores reached 119 in the end. Eagles started their innings expectionally well aided by some luck they were 72 for no loss.Rilee Rossouw was playing a little gem of an innings his highest T20 score. He may be only 20 years of age but showed a lot of maturity during the start of the innings but when it mattered ended up falling the same trap of trying to hit the ball than time it as the ball got older.Piyush Chawla and Hamilton were spinning the sharks back into the game. The boundaries began to dry up and even with only 4 fielders inside the circle the eagles found it difficult to score even singles.Yasir Arafat was given the responsibility of bowling the last over of the innings with eagles needing 12 runs to win.The Stars were with Eagles when the fourth ball of the over went for four with an out faithful french cut. With 5 runs needed of 2 balls
Yasir bowled a dot ball right on the money.Eagles needed 5 runs to win from 1 ball,Arafat drops it on a length, Ryan Mclaren clubbed it to the wide long-on boundary. The match ended in a tie.It was the first tie of CLT20.It's an Eliminator to decide who goes through, what a thriller. Each team nominates three batsmen and one bowler, if they lose two wickets the innings (of six balls) is considered over.Eagles were batting first in eliminator over with Rossouw and Mclaren managing to get 9 runs with yasirr arafat bowling the over.Dwayne smith and Luke wright were the batting pair for Sussex sharks and CJ de Villiers the bowler. The first two balls of the final over enough for CJ de Villiers to seal the victory for Eagles by cleaning up both Smith and Brown.Sussex lost 2 wickets without scoring there by making Eagles go through to the next round.Eagles lost only one wicket for 9 runs in their super eliminator over.

Victorian Bushrangers vs. Wayamba Elevens [Group D]
Delhi | 16:00 IST

Its a do or die match for wayamba. After their dismal performance against he Delhi daredevils they would be looking to stay in CLT20.They need to play really well to beat bushrangers who looked in good form.Delhi might be helpful for the Srilankan side if only their spinners can exploit the condition,Mendis needs to play his part as the more experienced spinner in the team.Victoria starts as the favoutire but Wayamba has the players who can pull of an victory. Wayamba Wins. Star Player:A.Mendis

Diamond Eagles vs. Sussex Sharks [ Group B]
Delhi | 20:00 IST

In this group ‘B’ match, Sussex Sharks find themselves in a do-or-die situation with Diamond Eagles. They lost their first match with New South Wales.Nothing less than a win would keep both the sides in the tournament.Sussex would be looking for West Indian Dwayne Smith to show some of his form during their Pro20 season to give them the edge. Sussex Sharks Wins. Start Player:Yasir Arafat

Royal Challengers Bangalore and T&T have easy wins.

Somerset v Trinidad & Tobago
Trinidad & Tobago was starting their campaign in CLT20, While somerset has already won its game against Deccan Chargers.T&T decided to bat first amd they batted with zeal.Their star performers Dwayne and Darren Bravo missed out on the big score but the rest of the guys chipped in with good partnerships. Dinesh Ramdin made sure that T&T reaches 150.Somerset where hoping that their experienced opening pair can guide the innings and give them a solid state. But Dwayne Bravo had other plans, he squared up Trescothick to find the edge while Langer (15) pulled off-spinner Sherwin Ganga straight to William Perkins at square-leg.Suddenly two of the most experienced players in the somerset squad were back in the hut, making Somerset lose their way in the middle overs with no one to give the innings some momentum they kept lagging behind the required run rate.Zander de Bruyn (43 n.o., 38b, 3x4, 1x6) played well to take somerset to 106.

Royal Challengers Bangalore v Otago

It was a crunch game for both Otago and RCB.Kumble won the toss and decided to bat first. No surprising as he wants to give the bowlers enough confidence with a huge total. Robin Uthappa made merry on a day were his timing was flawless.Otago Bowlers kept pitching the ball right up to Uthappa, even though he was hitting every ball in his half with sheer power. He was hitting straight through the line of the bowl with very less moment of the deck.Royal Challengers relished a solid start as openers Kallis and Robin Uthappa (42, 31b, 5x4, 2x6) shared a 75-run partnership.Ross Taylor and Virat Kolhi made sure that their bowlers had plenty of runs to bowl at.Otago were up against a huge total and a determined Kumble. The collapse began with Brendon McCullum being caught at mid-on,with their star batsmen gone the Volts began to loss wickets at regular intervals.Otago was bowled out for 108 in 17.5 overs and fittingly Kallis caught the last batsman — Neil Wagner — in the deep.
